August Prayer Verses:

Aug. 01-06: And he said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God (Luke 16:15, ESV).

Aug. 07-13: But I, when they were sick-- I wore sackcloth; I afflicted myself with fasting; I prayed with head bowed on my chest (Psalms 35:13, ESV).

Aug. 14-20: "Yet even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments." Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, (Joel 2:12-13, ESV).

Aug. 21-27: Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes (Daniel 9:3, ESV).

Aug. 28-31: "Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? (Isaiah 58:6-7, ESV)
